It's called "Looking Glass Awabi". (Awabi is another name for abalone) It is a thin layer of abalone covered by a thick layer of clear acrylic. They tint the clear acrylic with different colors for effect. GEC has done quite a few looking glass knives in different patterns. The one I posted is a Yellow Awabi Looking Glass canoe and I believe the one you posted is Pink Awabi Looking Glass. Below is a pic I shot with brighter more direct light (an LED tactical flashlight) that shows the abalone better. You can see it in your hand easy enough but it was hard to catch in a photo.

It is the first CS product that I have acquired. It's well made with quality materials. The blades, D-2 tool steel I believe, have good snap and smooth opening/closing action. The scales are bone, nicely jigged with deep rich color. So far, I like it a lot. ::tu::

Thanks Phil. New canoes seem to be getting rare so I've been searching out some older ones that got away from me in the past.

Thanks Bighomer! ::super_happy::

Funny thing...I have a gazillion canoes but my "wanted list" contains more knives than my collection and the wanted list gets longer faster than the list of knives I have!!! It's kinda' supernatural or something! :shock: ::rotflol::

I like it for sure. It is about the most substantial looking canoe I've seen.

It's a well made knife. The fit and finish are good. I haven't used it so I can't comment on the blade steel. The slip joints are smooth with good snap and no play or wobble. The only thing I don't like about it is it's imported from China. However, bang for the Buck, (pun intended) it's a good economy priced knife for under $25.00. I have a small display of Chinese canoes with American and German makers names on them, it resides there.

Some really nice canoes. Unfortunately my canoe count is now at zero. Got to get working on that.

Squatch, Looking over the canoes you have posted the last couple of months you can certainly have a strikingly colorful display of canoes. Hope you have the room to display them together. If so, how about a group shot.

Here's a shot of the Collection Corner in my home office. It's two or thee years old so the collection has grown since it was taken. I'll have to get a more recent pic.

Wow, that is one nice setup to display your collection. Wish I had some space to do something like that.
