This isn't political this is about what we drink and breath. Second this whole thread is political, about laws with knives.

This thread is about knife laws, not clean air and water laws. Let's keep this thread on topic please.

With the recent court decision that "weapons of war" don't count under the 2nd Amendment, I have to start wondering if there will be any overlap with knife carry laws, or if there will be guidance given at the federal level to ensure compliance with precedent. What may be okay to carry today, like a RAT-1 or a large Sebenza, could suddenly be "too big" or too easy to open for EDC tomorrow. Would my USN diver's knife suddenly qualify for scrutiny, and be subject to a federal ban, or perhaps any one of my dozen or so vintage bayonets? Will a FFL class 3 be a prerequisite for owning automatic knives? It's getting a little silly, frankly, and I think everyone can agree that this is one bit of regulation that needs to be moved to the front of the dismantling line.

Politically, you can be on whatever side of whatever issue you want, I've got my own opinions too -- but as far as knives go (and the 2nd), this country's history should really mean that our right to carry a knife is as indelible and irrevocable as the Constitution says our right to carry a firearm is.

So far in this country (Canada) we can carry knives, but I can see the winds of change happening and knives becoming a subject of restriction. Up here, we typically have less tolerant (liberal) governments that take it upon themselves to decide what's good for us. However, I have found that no matter what color they are, whether blue, red, orange or green, they like to restrict freedoms for the populace, but not themselves.

Thanks, Jerry, I needed to see that. I get complacent sometimes, and in these days that could be a very dangerous thing. I will do all I can to give support where it's needed. God knows these liberal lefties are out to get all that is good for Americans.
And thanks smokepole for the point of view of someone who has already been suffering what we are heading into. The Heraclitus warrior story was uplifting, and I deeply share your fear for my childrens, 2yrs. & 7yrs. old, future America. I will keep up the fight as long as I can still draw a breath, and then a little longer. I would gladly tell those who oppose that they can have my knife only when I have plunged it so far up their butt that I can no longer grasp the handle! ::nod::

Thanks Mel, it's the work of Doug Ritter of Knife Rights and Jan Billeb of AKTI that will help answer the original question of this thread. IMHO, we will win the war but loose some battles along the way.

Great story if you haven't read it.

Well..... everything happening in our country boils down to one thing...... The golden rule.
The ones with the GOLD.... RULE.

We all know....You can't legislate morality.

The hand full of politicians in Washing town know that too.... BUT, another thing they know is a dis-armed people can be controlled better than a bunch of people with guns and knives. The puppets at the capitol who are SUPPOSED TO BE looking out for us (the people) are now controlled by the few with the money.
So..... YES.... THEY will eventually make it against the law to walk among the other zombies they have created with anything more than a tooth pick. BUT, then again, a toothpick might be too sharp... they may outlaw that too.

This is what I don't get--we've shut down the mental institutions, and even now, have a continuing trend of fewer, and fewer mental health beds each year, and all the while, mass shootings and the like are getting more common. Many who carried out the shootings were being investigated by the FBI, who chose to do nothing.

Those who seem want to ban any kind of "weapon" are manipulating the victims and families of the victims of these tragedies into soldiers for their cause. What these people need to be complaining about is the closing of the mental institutions and the FBI doing nothing in the instances where they investigated people who would later carry out a terrorist attack.

Getting more involved with AAPK I’m playing catch-up on a lot of the issues I find interesting on the site, so if I say something that has already been said, I apologize for being a "Johnny come lately."

As well as a amateur knife researcher and collector, I’m an active member of the NRA and everyday I walk out of the house I have a handgun on me, and I’m carrying one of my favorite pocket knives. Thanks to our Governor, Greg Abbott, Texas in the past couple of years has gone to “Open Carry” on firearms and Texas House Bill 1935 removed the blade restrictions on all knives that a person is allowed to openly carry in public. People possessing anything from daggers to swords will not be breaking any laws. If you want to walk down the street with your Wakizashi Japanese sword on your side, then go for it.

I didn’t spend 26 ½ years in the military defending our rights and freedoms to stand by and let a bunch of liberal and socialist so called “enlightened ones” tell me I had to give up anything for some "greater good" or “one world order.” I make no apologize for that statement and I know that many of you will understand and agree. Get involved and fight for what is right, no matter what the issue is.

I will now come down off my soapbox.

It takes a special kind of person to make a career out of the military. Thank you for your service David.

Thanks for posting that Jerry, it wasn't in the American Hunter version of NRA's periodical. It seems to be nice with use of a survival knife and their price are not much high written and concise and I advise all people study it.
