Thanks, fellows, for the comments about my photo.

Beautiful knife, beautiful photo, Kris.

Here is an old Schrade on an old pine. Not much left of either. The second photo was when I was trying to figure out how to stage the knife. Notice that I had help from Socrates, and he had a reward!

Great photos, Mel. Funny, I would have taken Socrates for a Stout fan.

Does this count as "Knife Photography?"
I bought this blade opener, because I keep my nails short and sometimes I have a hard time opening blades on some of the older knives.
It's a Rough Rider, stainless steel full tang and smooth bone handle.

Yes, because you used the word "knife" and identified a knife brand in your comments about your photograph 8)
Not to mention, "full tang" and "smooth bone handle," both of which qualify as knife terms.
Take care and God bless,

Nothing creative here but this is my first pic that I've taken with a light box that I just received today. Point & shoot digital camera set on "Auto". Flash turned off.

Looking for critiques from you folks. What do I need to change?

Thanks.

Re: Knife Photography

Post by dlr110 »

I'm going to post this in several threads so stand by. Today the Post Rider in Ponder Country brought me this new single blade VENTURE Jack Knife by H.M. Slater of Sheffield, England for my collection. ::ds::

I know nothing of this brand, this is my first one, but what I can tell you is, I bought it from a fellow Texan, a fellow AAPK member, a friend and all around good guy, Ray (Paladin). ::handshake:: The pictures don't do this knife justice. In my hand it is a perfect 3 5/8" when closed; supports a very well defined stag handle with rich colors and a distinctive pattern; and the bolsters are definitely noticeable over all other types. The blade when opened and closed is very tight and the snap when closed is perfection. This knife offers any owner years of dependable service. Please visit SWEETWATER KNIVES (Paladin) at the AAPK stores, Ray has several more of these beautiful quality knives just waiting for you at a price you can afford.

This completes my advertisement for Sweetwater Knives and to the administrators of AAPK I swear Ray is not giving me a "kick back." ::uc::

I think that you need to send that knife over to Missouri and let us see if the coloring matches your picture.

Ha! Good one Tony. I got that knife in Missouri as a matter of fact at the Washington, Missouri show. It's not going back though.

Since I'm posting anyway, I'll share that I think I got my new light box figured out. These look a little better.

That light box makes for perfect photos, Rick. But ... they seem a little sterile. Maybe add an old weathered board for background?

I like those three broad threads on that Sheffield, David. Very nicely photographed!
