Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
You got some fantastic knives in that pile. That Empire is really cool.djknife13 wrote:The gun/knife show in Duluth Mn. this morning on a quick pass I picked up a Northfiels folding hunter, a Finnish Scout fixed with phenolic handles and amber spacers (Scout emblem on scale), an Empire large coke bottle with near full blades and needing some bone or stag scales and a lot of light cleaning, a Buck 110 1970 era stamped on reverse side Buck USA, a Catt. electricians knife and two gun butt plates. $72 for the pile. The Empire should turn out to be a great knife when I get ir rescaled and the Northfield is my favorite pattern. ____Dave

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
How's the snap on the barlow, Scott?
Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Scott, the wood fixed appears to be a Scandinavian knife. They aren't much to look at but you won't find better steel than those anywhere. I cleaned up the very dirty ones I picked up at the gun show on Sat. and they show potential. I need to find someone with time to put some stag or bone on the Empire. I won several knives tonight in a locla call in auction that I pick up tomorrow. I got a Buck 110 stag with Damascus and two Kershaws. I'll post them when I get them. ___Dave

Dave, that Kershaw 1735 Zing looks to be in excellent condition. That's a good find. Check out the eBay sold listings. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... Complete=1

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thanks Jerry. I didn't know anything about it when I bid except that I liked it. All three are unsharpened and the other Kershaw was still in it's bubble wrap so I was pretty pleased with the auction. I lost on a real nice Carhartt vest but I got the important stuff. ___Dave

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Nice snag, Scott! On the handles, do you see any faint outline of a "K-TING ROPE" stamping or etch? Both of the knives I have on that frame have it stamped into the pile side handle but the older and more used example is so well-worn that you have to catch it at just the right angle to see it.TripleF wrote:Found this Schrade Walden Navy Rope Cotton Sampler today
Of course, it might not be present at all -- both knives I have are serrated and I believe yours is waaay older. Maybe there's a difference versus the plain edge, or they didn't start using it til the Schrade USA days...
At any rate, your knose for knives continues to impress!
