This old gem was at a flea market in a shoe box with about 30 other old knives. Stapled to the end of the box was an index card sign saying "Your choice - $1.00". Most of the knives were rusted, broken blades, broken or missing scales, etc. I was sorting through them and had already sat this one aside, not believing my luck. I can only guess it was in the box due to the cracked scale on the mark side, and some rust. About that same time the woman working there said "if you find anything in there you like you can have it for 50 cents". I didn't find anything else I wanted but I paid her the dollar for this one, took it home, gently removed the rust and oiled the joints. Good snap on both blades.

Mark side master blade tang stamp is worn but you can make it out with a loupe. Pile side stamps are very good on both blades.

I agree with PigSticker, great find. Don't you love it when that happens? :D The MOP Cattaraugus I found is from Little Valley New York too.

Not a "Dollar Knife", per se, but relatively speaking, this knife's value to selling price comparison should rank right up there with the best of bargains.

This multi-blade knife, with almost certainly genuine tortoise shell handles, sold on Ebay recently for eighteen dollars. ::woot::

If it weren't for that broken glove hook blade, it would rank as an utterly outstanding piece of cutlery.

Still has the spring in the scissors, which is not usually the case.

European manufacture, but still.....

Somebody scored on this one.

Photos will expand times two.

Well, we will find out, my F-I-L adopted it and has been carrying/using it. He like how sharp an edge it has. Always nice to be able to put one back in rotation. ::ds::

Got this one out of the $5 bucket at my local brick & mortar knife store. My first John Primble and after a little elbow grease, man is it a dandy. The bone handles are crack and chip free. Blades are full and even though it's been carried and used, they still have their factory grind. The snap is excellent and on closing, sounds like a dry stick breaking.

Jerry reminded me in a different topic about this thread. Here's one I picked up a while back at antique store for I believe $5. Just sitting in a cigar box with a bunch of other nick knacks.

It's been a while since I lucked onto that Primble, I was beginning to think my luck had run out. I was the only bidder on this Ulster #50 medium jack and now it's on it's way to live at my house. It will fit right into my little collection of serpentine medium jacks (3¼" closed) and that muskrat main just suits my fancy to a "T". All for the princely sum of $4.95 & $2.67 shipping.

Good looking knife Jerry, it seems that Ulster and Pal knives aren't seen to be as collectable as other brands. I wonder why that is?

Yeah, I don't know why either. They're good knives.

You're probably right. Handle jigging sure looks like Schrade. We'll see when it gets here.

Cuz that's a dandy! I'm a sucker for those little muskrat clip blades myself.
