Happy 4th all.
A replica (more than likely from Pakistan, no markings) of what was carried back in the late 1700s.

I picked it up at Fort Frederick Market Days, an event for reenactors of that time - frontiersmen, Revolutionary War, French and Indian wars. A plethora of sutlers peddling their wares. Tons of neat period correct stuff for sale to include hand forged knives, guns, clothing.

Today's reminder to Oil The Joints - as well as the creek...

Oily Creek bone seems to get even better looking as it ages. IXL bone is fab too.

The "unfinished" hefty feel of the OC bone Big Jack was a perfect choice for GEC to show it off, IMO, and the I*XL sawcut is among the most pronounced I've ever had in a Barlow. Both knives are a joy in hand.

I cleaned out one of my knife boxes and found this one: a 1989 Case Centennial R62019 English Jack. (I’ve also got a 1987 Case Collectors Club BL2019 English Jack in smooth blue merl bone.) The blades were a little dull so I touched it up on an Arkansas stone and now it’s good and sharp. I may carry this one along with my 1976 Case 2231 1/2 SAB Slick Black Jack.
