Greg,

That's a sharp pen knife but I can't quite make out the tang stamp.

Thanks geocash. Tang is stamped: Solingen Cutlery/B. Svoboda/ Germany
The shield and pattern look like a match to a larger Klaas whittler I have though.

I'm surprised from a hackberry tree. I always thought of them as almost a weed tree. Usually have rotten centers when they get older, wood hard to split for fire wood. Not always a pleasant smell when burning. Birds do like their berries. As a kid I liked to chew their bark. Wow, I learned something. A hackberry! Thanks. ::nod:: ::tu::

This Pacific Schrade has become a favorite: lightweight, very sharp blade, and exceptionally smooth and fast opening. By raising the thumb stud above the spine the force required to open is very little. It takes considerably less effort than a Spyderco for example, and they don't require much at all. Very smooth and quick.

Beautiful knife, Tony, & photo. I can't help but ask what the handle material is.

A favorite Canoe. I have no idea when it was made but the Queen lacks the DFC stamp so it's probably pre-2012, at least. I just have no idea what kind of wood it has.

For the last few days I’ve been toting this new to me Solingen Boker Jumbo Congress (5474). It come to me with stained but never sharpened blades. Not a beauty contest winner, but not bad for $30.99.

Thanks. It had Christmas tree celluloid that was offgassing. Replaced the scales with zebrawood.

I like that combo of a big single blade (back pocket), and small stockman (watch pocket), Paul. ::tu::

Here are the two I chose today, GEC moose in osage and a Boker magnum scout in ebony.

Three of my favorite knives on one page!

Sun, that moose is real nice!

DM11, that possum skinner is one of the most interesting new patterns I’ve seen! Excellent!

OH, the 3318 is a classic! I have one myself. It’s not hard to figure out at all why it’s one of the most popular CASE patters. And I have always loved that CASE yellow.
