Cheap display for the lowly camp knife

Post by Maddogfl »

I stopped by the local junk store looking for, and finding a shadow box ($5.00) and some fabric, $2.00 for enough to wrap my porch). I ripped out the cardboard back and replaced it with 1/4" plywood scrap. I scrounged a pair of recycled strap hinges from my stash at the barn. I used spray contact cement to glue the fabric to the plywood, used some cup hooks that were in a drawer in the kitchen and made latch out of a finishing nail bent to shape and an eye screw. Of course, I have hung it high enough to hide the ugly strap hinges, because I was too cheap to run to the hardware store for a piano hinge. Seven bucks out of pocket and three hours later it was hung and loaded.

The photo pointed out a couple of things that I need to correct. I see some fabric that needs to be trimmed, and I didn't get all of the lay-out chalk off of the fabric. Other than that, it is done.
