Bushcraft Style Knife with Richlite Handles

Post by Jeffinn »

I made this one out of 1080 carbon steel and some more of that Richlite handle material that I have. Its a nice knife measuring approx.7 3/8". I spent a good deal of time polishing the blade. Its still got some micro scratches that show up under artificial light but other than that it looks pretty good. I left the handle a bit on the thicker side for those who have larger hands. Haven't put my makers mark on it yet, I'll try to get to that later.

It’s very similar to Micarta but it’s made with recycled paper. In my opinion it’s quite a bit harder than Micarta. It’s durable, waterproof and machines up nicely.

From the suppliers website:
Richlite is an incredibly durable, extremely versatile, and highly sustainable material made from resin-infused paper.
Composed of approximately 65% FSC®-certified or recycled paper content and 35% phenolic resin, Richlite’s color comes from a combination of the paper and the amber tone of the resin. Richlite works similar to a dense hardwood and can be easily milled, sanded, routed, joined and it can also be laser engraved. Richlite is water-resistant, naturally antimicrobial, has low moisture absorption, heat and fire

Thanks.
