So I decided to try my hand at creating a few fixed blade knives. I picked up some 1/8” 1095 annealed steel, found some patterns I liked and started cutting out some blanks. The picture below is a few in various stages of completion. Grinding knife bevels is an art form in itself and although these are okay, they’re far from bevels that would make me happy. But I’ll get there. I’ve got some more cleanup to do on these then I’ll try my hand at hardening and tempering. I’ve seen a few forum post that say 1095 can be problematic to heat treat but since I’ve already purchased the steel we’ll give it a shot.
Lots of new things to learn but so far it’s been fun.
Jeff
