Pleasant Surprise Today

Post by survivor711 »

Good Afternoon all, I was active many years ago with the old site as Clay's Cutlery aka Survivor711 but life's opportunities and challenges took over and I fell out of the activity. Will be moving soon and as I was packing up I ran across a box with a couple dozen Fighting Bull knives by Wendell Carson. Let me know if you all would like to see some of his work.

A couple out of the box as I opened them. The first is a 2625 Classic Trapper with Ruby Red Carved bone handles made by Wendell in April 2011. And the second knife is a 1612 Medium Texas Toothpick with Black Lip Pearl and Filework by Wendell he finished in September 2013. Three months later Wendell Carson passed away on December 23, 2013.

I felt like a friend of his as we talked on the phone about a knife I wanted back in early 2007. I was amazed when he said, "I will send you one as you described." I asked where I could send the money and he told me there was no need right then. He said, "When you get it, and if you like it, you can send money to the return address." He also told me if it wasn't what I wanted to just send it back. I really enjoyed talking to him. For the next few years we talked occasionally about knives and he was always kind and thoughtful. I am thankful I knew him, even if it was by phone and email.

This morning we look at a couple of knives I got in 2007/2008 timeframe.

The first is a 2625 Classic Trapper with torched Sambar Stag handles.
The second is a 2625 Classic Trapper with nice Ebony handles.
