Damascus and Micarta slipjoint build

Post by Tony_Wood »

Started the pattern welded steel journey last fall. I will post a few pics of that process.
Been making mostly hidden tang fixed blades, but saved a piece of a billet for a folder blade.

Started as nine layers of 1084 and 15n20.

That stack welds, folds, and repeats to 144 layers of steel.

That bar gets drawn out and drilled for the raindrop pattern.

From there it gets forged into a knife blade.

My goodness me Mr. Wood , this is as real a knife making, as you can get. Forging ones own Damascus, let alone making custom knives from
scratch, is an art in itself. Kudos to you for taking the plunge!

Willy, the only thing left to do is process ore into a workable billet and build one from there. One day! ::tu::

I'm always impressed by the knife making talents and knife modification skills demonstrated by so many AAPK members.

TWood--that Damascus folder is absolutely gorgeous. Just curious: Will it be going into your personal collection or offered for sale? ::suspense::

Q, thank you so much.
