Possible handmade knife ... origin help ?

Post by twdroppoint »

Hello ... trying to find out what this knife may be, any signs of it’s possible origins. It most likely came from an estate sale of some kind and appears like a handmade knife or something but ... US ? What country ? Any ideas ? Bone handle ... any help is much appreciated !

I can tell right away that it was made from a saw blade.

twdroppoint,
I agree that it's a home made piece. I would say some one was very resourceful when they made it and it's sheath. The belt loop appears to actually be an old belt, maybe. ::shrug::
The idea is interesting, to have a sharpened edge with the saw teeth still intact and usable on small light weight projects or chores. My Camillus Pilot's survival knife I acquired while in the Corps, has a saw on the back of it's blade, so I know it's a good idea. :)
Can't tell about the dimensions of the knife or what sort of round bone the handle is made from, might be a piece of deer leg bone. A dried bone filled with epoxy, the hidden tang with holes drilled in it ought to anchor the blade and handle. ::shrug::
The maker appears to have signed his work on both sides of the tang.
