Video Files

Post by Jeffinn »

Can we post video files directly in the forum groups or do we need to upload them to YouTube and link to them here? Sometimes a video file would be helpful when explaining a technique or showing an issue.
Thanks.

Interesting question. I can't post Word.docx files to the forum.

Jeff,
Bryan will have to answer that, it is above my tech expertise.

Cal,
I know you can't post Word.doc files of any type I have found, though I think a PDX can be posted.

The software that AAPK uses (phpBB Group) allows our site owner (Bryan) to configure attachments settings by controlling what file extensions attached files can have to be uploaded. As an example, scripting file extensions such as php, php3, php4, phtml, pl, cgi, py, rb, asp, aspx, and so forth are not allowed for obvious security reasons. Bryan would have to allow file extensions beyond those already support for still-images.

My guess is that video file extensions are blocked because of the voluminous size of most video files.

That makes perfect sense.

I'm pretty sure they have to be uploaded to Youtube...then they can be posted here on AAPK.

If anyone has issues posting YouTube vids let me know. I figured out the tricks of the trade. ::nod::
