Stamps and frame appear to be real. Freshly welded fake blades though. With all the wear on the tangs I would hardly expect to see the blades appear to be in such full, clean condition. Knife does not agree with itself.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Not to hijack this Case thread, but I do agree with Wayne based on this picture.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Thanks I thought I had started a new thread but some how it got side ways on meMumbleypeg wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 3:09 amSince the title of this thread references Case, you’d probably get a better response to questions about the Western knife if you start a new thread with your question either here or in the Western Collector's forum. Most Western experts aren’t as likely to read your post here. JMO

Kutmaster For comparison.

People … weld … blades? Certainly eye-opening for someone newly bitten by this bug.
That seems like a safety hazard.

Re: Another fake Case Tested
Welding blades on collectable knives has been going on for at least 50 years that I know of. Early ones were pretty crude, therefore easily detected. Newer welding equipment has made them less easily detected.
It’s not cheap (neither the equipment nor a resulting good weld) so primarily limited to collectable knives, which aren’t likely to be used as EDC knives. Having said that, a properly done weld is as strong as unwelded steel. I see no prevalent “safety hazard”. JMO. To be clear, I’m not advocating the practice either, especially when used in attempt to fool the buyer. I think it can have a place, for instance in restoring a family heirloom.
