Fake or Not

Post by dlr110 »

If I'm wrong then someone please educate me.
This CASE is listed as a 1987, but that's not the 1987 Tang Stamp. It appears to be the one from 1932-1940.

It's not fake. Back when the NKCA was around, they had Case make some of these in 1987. The NKCA is no longer in business.

The OP knife. Note the blade etch and NKCA shield.

That particular knife was one of the last times that Case made the 6345 1/2 Cattle Knife pattern. It may just be the picture, but it kind of looks like the pile side handle cover may be compromised.

I have that exact knife but never noticed the tang stamp. When I get home in A few days I will have to inspect it.

I noticed that also. The listing says “mint”, but with sporty being the seller you never know. It is probably okay but if I was going to be a bidder I’d ask about it first.

I also have the same knife. It is identical to the OP knife in every way.

I think the cover booboo might just be a photograph artifact. Those are nice knives. Bill Swan has a few hundred (thousand?) idiot groupies who will often pay 400% of market for a knife so good luck! He also grossly misrepresents some of his knives through ignorance. I don't think that he is dishonest. I have an old one I got from Steve Pfeiffer which may be a WWII knife? It has 'gum fuddy' covers. It is available.

I have one of the OP knives, but can imagine a few have been altered and passed off as Tested era knives. ::mdm::

Folks am I being paranoid or is there something wrong with this Queen stamp?
If you enlarge the pic I see that the number 8 appears to have been stamped over something.

It looks to me like the stamp might have moved slightly during the process. It might just be the light, but both digits look like that to the upper right side.
I would guess that it is legit, and something was off on their stamping equipment. But that is only a guess.

In order of rarity, least to most:

A counterfeited Queen knife
A counterfeited 1980’s knife
A counterfeited 1980’s Queen knife

Couldn't get my picture to come out clearer but this knife is on eBay right now and that tang stamp jumped out at me.

David, going to say that it's a legit knife ... but I'm sure that you'll have a Case expert confirm soon, nice looking little Eisenhower

I guess it's a question of what am I missing. In that picture I don't see the stamp curved like the example. I only see what looks like 3 letters with no XX at the end. Now of course I just got an eye exam yesterday and I'm waiting on new glasses. You know more about CASE than I do Ken so I'll go with your opinion, thank you... ::handshake::

Here's another fat-tail C tang stamp from the 90's that I found on eBay. I think it's just a bad picture and it looks like Case had issues fitting the stamp to the small main blade.
