Cast Tested 048 Questionable?
Cast Tested 048 Questionable?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-1920TO ... SwcBpeHRbT
I think I am looking at an 048 Case with a Case Tested period blade transplanted into a later period frame, but I would prefer to consult with the experts and am making no accusations whatsoever. Does shield look like the "block S" and the scales perhaps look like yellow delrin, but the blade has the Tested stamp (or at least most of it)? Also, I am wondering about the shape of the blade. Sorry for the poor pics. (I still haven't figured out how to save pics from the internet onto my computer.) And, yes, I am aware of this seller's reputation.

Waaaaaaaaay too much "top knot" on that clip blade to be a Case blade.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

More garbage from this seller.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Do you have an idea of what era the frame would be from?

So not even the frame is from the era they are trying to pass it off as. Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure this is a legitimate -048 Tested. I don't think a shield was ever pinned on for whatever reason.

Very interesting knife John. In your picture, I can obviously see the drilled holes for pinning the shield, but there doesn't appear to be any inlay cutout.
So, it doesn't look like the shield was simply removed or fell off at some point. I wonder if this one slipped out of the factory without being finished or ????
