Case Bradford 6130

Post by RalphAlsip »

As far as I know, the 30 pattern was never made in a single blade configuration. In addition to having the pen blade and catch bit removed, it looks to be rehandled. I believe this is an authentic Case 30 frame and believe it is likely an authentic Case 30 clip blade.

For comparison a Case Tested XX 06230 1/2 attached.

Jerry,
To me it is hard to say when you get to the really old ones. I know I have a WR Case 1905-15 6199 with Rogers bone that is original. Has the pattern number stamped. All of the later ones are 6299’s. I agree on the rehandle as it doesn’t look like old Case Rogers bone. Again not sure but it could be possible that a single blade 30 was made.

The second picture, showing top view indicates that the blade is from a multi blade knife by the way it crowds over to one side to leave room for the second blade to fit in.

I don't disagree with that for sure. Blade definitely does not center well. Sure not saying it is authentic by any means.

Here is a picture of the 6199 W R Case I mentioned earlier. Until I got this one I had no idea a single blade 99 pattern was ever produced. I have a Case Bradford 6199 as well.

Tom, I agree that there are old Case factory original knives out there that are legit and don't any supporting documentation. Your 6199 is a great example of that reality. It makes finding them and collecting them interesting (and sometimes challenging :) )

I wrote the original post on the 6130 hoping that it would generate some discussion and opportunity for me to learn if there ever was a 1 blade version. I have seen a 3 blade 6330 even though they were never documented as being produced.
