Seller claims this plain old average Camillus 27/TL-29 is rosewood, but I don't think Camillus ever made a rosewood TL-29.
It's suspicious the guy does not show the tang stamp and $35?--that's about three times what the thing's worth! I feel in general, most of the prices on this guy's knives are inflated.

"Rosewood" Camillus 27
Re: "Rosewood" Camillus 27

Well he does say it's rosewood but if it were that really wouldn't bring a large premium and as you say this can be had in better shape for about twenty bucks. I will say that some of these knives by their very nature have been handled by very dirty hands and receive years and years of oily build up. Sometimes it's hard to say what kind of wood might have been originally used.

Looks like black plastic to me.
I think the case may be that the seller doesn't really know knives well and is just trying to make an educated guess as to the handle material. It's common to see pictures of knives that look legit but pictures of the stamp are left out, I think it's usually because those people don't know knives well enough to know what to take pictures of and it may not cross their mind.cody6268 wrote:It's suspicious the guy does not show the tang stamp and $35?--that's about three times what the thing's worth! Paul I think you've hit the nail on the head . It's really amazing at how many people are trying to sell knives and don't understand the importance of the tang stamp.KnifeSlinger#81 wrote:Looks like black plastic to me.

Is it just me, or does that knife look like it has black plastic handles?

Probably does Glenn the bail is far back. I think that indicates a late model.

They did but not on the advertised knife.cody6268 wrote: I don't think Camillus ever made a rosewood TL-29.
In 1977 Camillus moved the bail to the position you see on the knife on Etsy
As you can see from this copy of the Etsy offering, it clearly says Rosewood in the title.
Prior to 1977 it was located here:
When Camillus started using Delrin handles, sometime in the 60's, they discontinued the Rosewood handles so this knife would NOT have had Rosewood.
