I don't ebay. Never have. Never will. Don't even window shop there.
Why? For reasons you are trying to bring to light. Hopefully the bad, the bogus, and those with no integrity, will soon be weeded out by yours, and others, efforts.
Take care and God bless,

Re: New eBay fake knife report
I've been selling on eBay since March 1998. With almost $30,000 in transactions buying and selling vintage motorcycle parts. Everything I sold was listed as genuine or if I wasn't sure (which is very rare) I would say I wasn't sure and price accordingly. Sometimes I knew that what I was selling was a knockoff and I would be honest about it. I had no problems and have 100% customer satisfaction for 20 years. So I know the eBay system pretty well. I've been burned on a few things over the years by dishonest sellers. eBay doesn't care if you are selling counterfeit items, they will do nothing about it no matter how many people complain, unless it's gone public and could tarnish their reputation. For instance, I worked with a guy who's wife was selling fake coach handbags on eBay. They came down hard on her and quite a few other sellers and put them out of business. The difference is that there were hundreds or thousands of fake coach bags that were being sold all over the internet and most were sold on eBay. They were showing counterfeit bags on tv. They even have a write up on eBay that you can go to that tells you how to spot a fake. Now knives? They aren't selling thousands of fakes, and they're not busting ship loads of fake case knives coming from China, so they don't care. To them it's petty and not a major problem. I don't feel it's right though. They would rather have their buyer protection take care of it, that is, if the buyer is aware that he's been had, and that's the real problem. Now, if you buy something and realize you've been had, you can open a case against the seller and (possibly) get your money back if you do your transaction through PayPal. I've spoken to more than one person who put a claim in and got their money back and kept the item. Sorry about the long winded post, just speaking what's on my mind. Ken

Very good explanation kenb.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
