Any Chance This Is Legit

Post by Trader »

Saw this one on an auction. Tried to verify if it is legit, to no avail. Contacted seller and he assured me it was the real deal from a massive collection. I am skeptical because of the thickness of the stag, the condition of the knife, and the era of the tang stamp. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Never previously participated in identifying a fake. But this one immediately enabled me to call it a fake. Am no longer a virgin...I mean about fake knives, ::smirk::

That one has been taken down. Someone got his attention. I would take that as a good sign concerning the seller. His other listings look to be legitimate. ::shrug::

No. No chance it is legit.

The seller is selling off knives that were left to him. I doubt he knew it was a fake and has done the right thing and ended the auction.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

There looks to be a signature on the stag on front side. If it is then likely from the guy who re-handled it.

It may not even be a Case frame. I think it is a 1980's Queen slimline trapper that has been rehandled and restamped. Some of their knives from this era were only blade etched and not tang stamped.
