Case Tested Elk's Knife

Post by just bob »

At some point a person should just be ashamed of their conduct and seek to conform and atone for their evil ways. Apparently our old friend has not reached that point yet.

Ok; It's not an "across the room" fake to me. I'll see if I've learned anything here.
1)the tang stamp is not crisp enough. Is it also too big?
2) the handles are too thick for a tested era knife.
3) the Elks badge looks like a tie tack and it's not straight.
That's all I see. Is any of it right? Thanks

When I saw this I thought it was a clear case of a blade being put into another frame. A Case knife with a round shield isn't common, though they do exist. Are there any before 1940? I also thought the bone was off and didn't look like it was from the tested era. I agree that the shield is more likely part of a button or lapel pin than a knife shield. It doesn't fit the opening well at all. I don't know about the tang stamp but do know the seller has a long history of coming up with whacked blades.

Remington made these Elks knives along with other styles in the 20's to 40's

The most obvious flaw, in this knife, is the tang stamp--as I have stated before the C comes around and touches the top of the A in Case common in all of these recent "fakes". The legitimate tested stamp has some space between the top of the A and the top curl of the C.

Was there a single blade 3inch equal end pattern from the tested era? Don't recall one.
