1970 Case 5383 Whittler

I recently purchased a 1970 Case 5383 Whittler and would like opinions on the shield. It seems small to me, I know they use different size shields for different knives, but it is much smaller than a 1965 era whittler that is on the bottom of the picture for comparison. Tell me what you think please, am I just getting paranoid of all the fakes out there?

this may or may not help; I have a 6353 whittler that I thought at the time was a '65 era but I may be wrong.
Anyway it has the small shield, positioned the same as yours. The difference is your shield has pins, mine does not. So maybe mine is the fake. I may be comparing apples to oranges here, but it's all I've got.

From fhe pic they look good.. Shield pinned to liners?

Yes shield is pinned it just looked on the small side. I have since checked other 1970s anf they do seem to be that size on the whittler

Knife looks okay to me.
