Should a tested hobo knife not have a different shield design?
Also looks way too new for me.

The words vintage and antique are vague. Actually most words are vague. Even the word vague is vague.

Re: Hobo Knife Questionable
I don't know much about Case hoboes, and I'm always suspicious of any knife that old and looking that good, but it looks okay to me. Might have been cleaned but if so it was nicely done. I'm often wrong though, as my lovely wife will testify!
I don't know the seller and have never bought anything from him but he consistently has some honest knives in great condition. They're just not usually in my price range.
Be interested to see what the experts say.

It's definitely seen a buffer. Looks authentic, but being buffed like that usually means it's been heavily cleaned.

That shield is exactly right for tested knives. It looks good to me.

Re: Hobo Knife Questionable
My observation on the knife is that it is authentic.
My observation of the seller's description of the knife is that the description is inaccurate. For example, the description says no cracks in handle. It looks to me like there is a crack starting at the shield going through the pin to the bolster. I agree with comments in earlier posts about buffing based on the faintness of the stamps.
