64047P xx, odd color... Otherwise looks nice

Post by XxTestedxX »

Listed by silverladdies on eBay

Bone looks like something from the classics era, shield looks like a classic shield, but could just be a legit tested shield

Blades look correct, fit and finish is decent... If this knife was messed with it was done with some skill.

Color and bone is what's raising flags here

In the last photo you can see the split on the flared head of the pin.

Can someone post a link please?

I have a couple of odd colored green bone knives that are legit . However, this knife does not look legit in my opinion as far as bone color and specifically the jigging. I might entertain the bone color BRIEFLY (I mean BRIEFLY) but first thing I noticed is the zig-zag type jigging. Never seen that jigging on a XX or TESTED era knife. Yes, rogers bone had irregular jigging but of course, not like that. That zig zag jigging was used in late 70s' early 80s' for roughly 3 years or so as I recall. Maybe later years too but I don't study those years myself.
That said, it does look like a bone color of a CASE Classic as Zach stated.

Knife has been rehandled. Neither the bone nor shield are Case XX era. The rest of it looks pretty good. Just my opinion.

So considering if the blades are legitimate (I don't know, I'm assuming they are), possibly this was a rehandle due to the original handles being broken or something?

Thanks for the input and the link Ken. Like how the words "professionally cleaned" is in super small font in comparison to the rest of the description. Honestly, besides what I see wrong with the knife, that is enough for me. Do agree, does not look like a XX or TESTED shield (too pointy and new/perfect) but I did not include that in my original post. I questioned that also but bone and jigging were enough for me.

Here's a green bone muskrat on the 47 frame for comparison. OP knife doesn't look right. ::td::

The posted knife has been rehandled - shield is a Case classics shield, bone is most likely Case Classics bone.
