Never heard of one of these before. I have owned all three versions of the Ulster one, can't believe this one is right. Anybody?

Thanks Scout and Jerry, link was there when I hit "preview", didn't check post after I hit "submit", don't know where link went but you guys got it. I know it isn't right butI am just amazed that somebody would make such a crazy fake out of a good knife. Maybe more amazed at the bidders.

They put a lot of time into this. Not a bad looking finished product. Someone with that much talent should be spending their time doing worth while items.

Might have been more historically accurate if he put PAL on the tang. Wasn't Remington gone by the time those knives were produced? Here's a file I had on those mountain knives with specs that seem to suggest that the originals were circa 1942. These are from Ulster:

Right you are Eric!! No Remington cutlery division by the time Ulster made those, and only Ulster made them.

Tom I believe that official Remington scout is correct , it’s not real stag , is a celluloid kinda like what’s used on the lf&c knives .
I own and have owned several .

I have enough inside evidence to conclude that the etch isn’t factory - IMHO Mike that makes this a fake or at best a tribute but not a survivor.

I though that etch was too good to be true Tom .

The OP knife was posted again for a measly 900 BIN price ::dang::

As I’m learning Mike, the technology to replicate an etch is readily available to anyone - even those wishing to receive an unsuspecting buyer. I’d be cool if it was offered as such but it wasn’t/isn’t. $900 clams is laughable - I could pay for my flight to Lakeland next year, buy an original from you at the show and still have money left.

This seller usually sells correct knives. I would be surprised if he knowingly sold a fake.

I agree the Remington Scout knife looks right to me but certainly not bone handles. The WANNABE Mountain knife is bad for sure.

As KJ points out not everyone selling bad knives is aware the knives are bad.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

The pattern number they are trying to pass off on the mountain trooper knife R4523 is for a Spanish official Boy Scout knife .
