Customized Camillus #51 Barlow

Post by orvet »

I have posted before that I'm doing several knives to take the Oregon show in a couple weeks. I am trying to get most of these knives done soon enough I can post them in my store so that the members of AAPK have first choice of these knives. I feel it's fair that our members have this opportunity because they are here year around encouraging myself and all of the other folks who are customizing knives. I want my customers to know that I appreciate their business, their support and encouragement. Thank you!

This is a long line Camillus #51 Barlow, circa 1960 – 1974. It was in very good condition to begin with but I thought I could improve the overall look of the knife, especially the handles.
You guys be the judge let me know how you like the handles.
Thanks again for your critiques and your support.

Looks like you are going to have a crowd around your table at the show Dale. I am not usually attracted to green but I like that one. ::nod::

Thank you guys, I was not really fond of green handles but that has changed recently. Glenn is responsible for my sudden affinity for greens. He's did a knife with one of Culpeppers green colors that I really liked, since then I've done a couple in green that turned out really nice, thanks Glee! ::tu::

I thought I had listed the type of bone, but I see I forgot it. I did put the type of bone the store listing; it is giraffe bone. There are a few more pics of this knife where it is listed in my store.

Thanks for reading this and especially thanks for your comments!

One of the things I appreciate about the AAPK Knife Mechanic Support Group (KMSG) is that we are self enabling!

Very nice! You have a true talent. I would love to see that color green, in the shape of a shamrock and used as the shield on a white material handled knife (Camillus, of course). The pattern # could be any of them. ::tu::

How is that giraffe bone to work with? Is it similar to cow bone as far as it’s workability?
I haven’t found a lot of green bone that appeals to me but that one is a real stunner!
Hey … it’s a pocketknife for gosh sakes. I’m not selling the Mona Lisa….Bullitt4001
