KORIUM facelift
KORIUM facelift
A KORIUM knife I picked up recently. I removed the cast aluminum grip and lengthened the tang and threaded the end as well. The blade was a bit rusty (which, by the way, was a feature I was interested in) so I polished it off which leaves a patina on carbon steel that I kinda like. I made a guard, washer/spacer and pommel out of steel and rusted to match the blade. The grip is Lilac wood. I just like to tinker with knives and don't have alot of specialized equipment but this was fun to do.
Re: KORIUM facelift
That looks really good!
Where do you get lilac wood? Did you cut it and cure it yourself, or did you buy it?
Nice work!

Oooh, that's nice!
Re: KORIUM facelift
Thanks for the kind remarks. Although the blade looked as if it was rust pitted it wasn't. In fact to give it that brown, antique look I only polished off the grime on my buffer. The lilac wood came from an old lilac that I took down in our yard a few years ago. The heart wood is purplish and hard. I've included before pictures.
