Cold Steel Master Hunter

Post by muskrat man »

Here is a cold steel master hunter the owner had bought new and used for many years as a hunting guide until the rubber handle began to degrade and turn sticky. A soldered brass guard, stacked leather handle with red and black spacers, and aluminum pommel brought it back to life. It didn't look right in the old nylon sheath anymore since the facelift so a high quality hand stitched 9 oz veg tan leather sheath was in order. ::tu::

Muskrat Man, You did a beautiful restoration on a fine old knife that saw many adventures. The new sheath sets it off perfectly. ::tu:: ::tu::

I'm curious how the old handle was attached, as I've thought about re-handling my Master Hunter, just cause I'm not a huge fan of the original rubber one. That grip looks great, my jury is still out on the pommel/ bolt. That just doesn't do it for me. That's ok, though....no need for everyone to be into the same schtuff ::tu:: ::handshake::

Thanks men.

the rubber handle is molded onto the tang, slice it down the back with a knife and it will peel off.

Steel, I understand. It's the same pommel and nut set up as Randall knives.
