Ebony and Ivory small Colonial lockback
Ebony and Ivory small Colonial lockback
Okay the first time I tried this with walnut and had issues with function and wound up removing the handles and starting over. The repair turned out nice. And was handled in Elk. No ivory... This knife is in Ebony that I received from Glennbad. It still isn't done, but its starting to look good.
It isn't done yet. I'm waiting for the nickle/silver rod for the pivot pin before I finish it. After that arrives sometime this week I'll get it done, shaped and finished! More pics after she is finished!

Thanks Greg! This one is a test of sorts. Never worked with Ebony before, after you indicated that you would like one done like this I just had to make one to see how the Ebony is to work with. Very nice wood IMHO. Yours is going to be sweet!

Re: Ebony and Ivory small Colonial lockback
Thanks guys! Now I'm just waiting for the new pin stock to arrive so I can finish this one and the large Camillus lock back that I'm doing in stag.
Re: Ebony and Ivory small Colonial lockback
Well for all intents and purposes these guys are done! Greg just needs to choose which one he wants! The other will go in my store at some point. I have others too. They are in different handle materials and they dont have the strip on them. When the finish is done on the handles I'll get those pics posted. But in a different thread.

Re: Ebony and Ivory small Colonial lockback
Nice work, Randy!
Re: Ebony and Ivory small Colonial lockback
Thanks Glenn! I'm mailing Greg's knife out today. He likes the thinner one with longer bolsters. A good choice too! The ebony shoes nice on this one as does the Ivory. I'm going to keep the other for my self. Now I have to do the final finish on the others, they don't have the stripes on them.
I have been experiencing a relapse of spinal issues. Mostly my neck and lower back. Nothing new here but the surprise is I thought everything had been successfully treated. Been dealing with these issues for more than 3 decades. Its a big let down after all of the surgeries and stuff. I'm still here working on knives but I'm slowing it down so as not to compromise my quality of work. I've had my neck bones fused and I'm trying to avoid getting the lower back done. Thinking about what I can do to give something back to this wonderful group of people here AAPK! I have an idea an will post it later!
