I did a sod buster a while back and didn't posted in the forum.
I didn't use a birds eye rivet, I just used a cutlers rivet and inlet enough room for the head of the rivet to set down in the handle.
I had to modify the rivet shank and cut off the female end a little bit so it was the right length, but it went together with no problem.
Am I missing something? ::shrug::
He's referring to drilling out the spot for the rivet/birdseye head. Maybe we're making it more difficult, but it's easy to get blowout when drilling those holes.
