Made Somewhere, But Where?

Post by New_Windsor_NY »

This pocket knife was just one in a group of pocket knives that I purchased. This particular pocket knife was NOT the reason for the purchase. It is a STAINLESS STEEL, single blade, single tang stamp, 3 3/8" closed, lockback pocket knife. I don't know if it was made in China, Pakistan, Japan, or where? That is why I'm posting it here. It has had some pocket time and it is a pretty nice carry. I gave it a very minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

If it’s not marked otherwise it’s probably U.S.A. made. The tariff law of 1895 (or thereabouts, I don’t recall the exact year) required imported knives to be marked with the country of origin. In 1965 a customs law required knives made in the U.S.A. to also be marked as such. Your knife doesn’t appear to be pre-1895, so it isn’t likely an import, but it’s also likely pre-1965. Of course it’s possible the COO was inked on and subsequently removed. JMO

Nice looking knife in any case! ::tu::

Being a big fan of single-blade all-metal knives Skip, I don't care where it was made, I like it! ::nod:: In all sincerity the knife has a Chinese look to me, although, the Al Mar "Osprey" comes to mind also, but they would have marked it! ::shrug:: 8)

This pocket knife arrived recently in a large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group or lot to obtain this particular pocket knife. It is, as far as I can tell, an UNBRANDED, single blade, 4" closed, pocket knife. I can NOT find ANY marking(s), of ANY kind, anywhere on this pocket knife. I do not know if it was made in CHINA, PAKISTAN, JAPAN, or...(I suspect PAKISTAN). That is why I'm posting it here. It was well made and it is in EXCELLENT condition. It did NOT need any cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Your knife has the appearance of a Navaja Skip, although, I originally thought a modified Languiole, and the Navaja's are also built in Spain, but a Spanish model would likely be marked as such! Beautiful knife though! 8)
