ROUGH RYDER TEDDY ROOSEVELT TRAPPER

Post by Beavertail »

I've been eyeing this and I think I'm going to get it.
It's 8 inches closed and weighs 2 pounds.
Pretty big knife!

Pretty neat knife. Like buying the sales display at the knife store. I’ve been tempted by that one.

I already have a couple jumbo Chinese Schrades I’m wondering if they are the same knife.

If they are from the same factory I think you will like your new knife.

I keep an eye out for the oversized conversation pieces.

That’s a Buck 110 on top of the RedSox knife.

Pretty big knife!

I've also been looking at this humongous "Roosevelt Trapper" Tim.

Than I realized it looked somewhat familiar to a "Humongous Trapper" I purchased back in 2019, also from SMKW.
Yup...here it is, the RR2146. The Rough Ryder 25th Anniversary Giant Trapper. Same identicle frame and structure dimensions. My older Trapper has "gray and black pakawood handles" whereas the new Trapper is listed as having "smooth wood handles" which may be the same, only a different color.
Strange that the new Trapper has the same older antique brass Rough Ryder 25th anniversary shield, (1994-2019) that my close to 3 year old original Trapper has. Obviously RR have many left over from 2019. I'm not complaining, just stating the facts.

img048.jpg

Same pinched lined bolsters and fileworked backspring. My original Trapper however does have a serialized lead bolster, I have # 242 of how many made I do not recall.
Other than the handle material and blade etching, there is only one other difference... I paid $29.99 for mine in early 2019, the new current Trapper (RR2316) is listed at $39.99 Inflation? Still not a bad price for a lot of knife. The blades are deep engraved, not stenciled.

This is not your everyday EDC knife. One would most likely need a custom made sheath as you approach the Klondike Bear that you want to skin. For me, it's a conversation show and tell piece, of which I have many of.

Moving on to the two (2) pound weight that Smoky states in their description of this Trapper. I put it on my scale and it weighs in at 1lb 1.3 oz. Not 2 pounds. (Picture below)

The fit & finish and workmanship of my original Trapper is beautiful. So...yes I will purchase the new price inflated humongous RR2316.
The original one's did not last long.
