Schatt & Morgan #99
I just bought a Schatt & Morgan, F & W #99 single blade jack with a drop point blade of CPM154 and "RWG" bone. I see this knife as being similar to the Northwoods Indian River Jack which was made by Queen. Both use the 3 5/8" #99 frame and both use CPM154 stainless steel. The IRJ has a spearpoint blade and it usually sells for a much higher price. I actually think i will like the S&M drop point blade more than the spear point.
I bought this from Tom, "olderdogs1" on ebay. He has one more if anyone wants a really nice knife with higher end steel.
Can someone tell me what "RWG" bone is ?

Thanks. I wouldn't know if a worm was going forward or in reverse. Maybe when i have knife in hand the 'reverse' will be observable ?

Roland you'll be able to tell the difference immediately. The reverse worm groove channel is elevated rather than carved into the bone.

Thanks Phil. The pictures do not show the handle well enough to make out surface features. I'm sure i will like it just fine. The blade profile and 154CPM steel is why i bought it. It is similar to the Indian River Jack but less expensive and with a 'better' blade design.
I will post back here when i have the knife and let you know if i am still as enthusiastic about it.

Hey Roland!
I can "gar in tea ya " that ya'll love em' "Schatt".
Haha!
I had to try the crazy grammar. I can tell you there is no other bone like it anywhere. My dad has 3 Schatts in his collection and we both love em'
The bone is really old school quality.
I hope you got it at a good price two.
Good job...

Re: Schatt & Morgan #99
Thanks Willy. I think the price was quite fair for a bone handled jack with a 154CM steel blade. Seller has one more of these. People will snap up a Northwoods Indian River jack, also made by Queen, at a higher price than this totally comparable S&M #99 which hangs around unsold.
I don't have it yet but expect i will be totally pleased & impressed. Not all Queen knives came out 'just right', but those that did are just as fine as today's GEC knives. There are many Great Queen knives and i expect this to be one of them.

I know this an old thread but I thought this would fit in here because it's built on the #99 frame. It started out as a Heritage Cattleman and Glennbad turned it into a single blade for me.

Re: Schatt & Morgan #99
This #99 started it's life as one of Charlie's HJ #3's, I acquired it from The Man himself a few years back at the Oregon Show!
Looking in the well I see that Muskrat Man did this mod, just as he had done the mod on Pruner posted in the T-ville thread.
MM removed the punch, did a file job on the backspring and replaced the covers with this Stag along with re-using the shield.
GREAT job Muskrat Man!!!

The #99 Executive Jack was one of my favorite S&M patterns, especially the Wharncliffe version. I say "was" because I had to sell them to finance a new roof for my house. I would buy all of them back now if I could.

More than you know, buddy...still feeling the pain. (Although at least I am dry and protected as I lay crying in my bed at night thinking of what this roof cost me! )
