Thank you for that, i will keep an eye out for any of them. You have a good weekend.QTCut5 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 7:47 am FWIW: I'm particularly partial to the Keystone Series I (1991). All the Keystone Series are top quality knives, but I think S&M really hit a grand slam home run that year...especially with the 042 151 Mini Trapper (which is probably my number one favorite Mini-T of all time!)

Re: Who's into S & M?
Loving your knife Q, I agree, quality got inconsistent but when S&M were good they were very, very good even towards the end.
Re: Who's into S & M?
That is the huge downside of buying online, you cannot get to see and feel what you are purchasing. I saw a S&M online the other day, when you had a really close look you could see some gaps, and you do not know if that is the one you are getting, or if that is one they pulled out for a photo shoot.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 11:51 am Loving your knife Q, I agree, quality got inconsistent but when S&M were good they were very, very good even towards the end.
Re: Who's into S & M?
I read some where that the later S&M knives that come in a white box are no where near as good as the knives that come in a brown box. Any one out there experienced in this Brand have a view on this ?

Fat City, your scout is looking very good to me. Lots of appeal.
Re: Who's into S & M?
As a general rule, that is very often true; however, that doesn't necessarily mean the later year (white box) S&Ms are junk...the quality just seems to be inconsistent so it's hit and miss. I have some DFC era knives that are every bit as nice as the pre-DFC era S&Ms, but I am less inclined to buy a S&M when I see "DFC" on the tang stamp.
BTW--Daniels Family Cutlery is the maker of Tuna Valley and Excelsior knives, both of which are super high quality production knife brands that make limited runs. You can check them out here;

Here's my latest S&M pick up: 3½" Dogleg Jack/Mini Trapper "Dollar Knife Co." (it came in a brown box!)

Wanted to share this Senator pen knife with you all. The abalone on this one is so unique on both the front and especially on the back. The back side changes color when you move the knife and view it from a different angle. From straight on it looks pink and lavender and from the side you see more green hues. This knife has pure abalone handles and not abalone covered with acrylic. They really went over the top on this one.

Re: Who's into S & M?
Abalone has always been my favorite exotic material and your pen knife demonstrates why.
Re: Who's into S & M?
That some of the best abalone that I've ever seen.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 7:41 pm Wanted to share this Senator pen knife with you all. Re: Who's into S & M?
Thanks Q, Garry and David. I agree that abalone is one if the best handle materials to collect. Paua abalone is probably my favorite, but this natural abalone is so unique that no two pieces look the same. It’s a good idea to grab any that catch your eye, because it won’t come around again.

Re: Who's into S & M?
I got another Senator Pen knife in Abalone. I can’t tell which of the 4 I have offered for sale in the last few years is the prettiest. This one is amazing. Every angle you hold this shows different colors and pattern. This one has a lot of pinks, reds, turquoise, blue and green. I think these are becoming my all time favorite Schatt and Morgan knife.
