Who's into S & M?

Schatt & Morgan knives were first manufacturer back in 1890. The Queen Cutlery company made most of the more recent examples, but Schatt had its own plant in its earlier years that cranked out the oldies. There is no shortage of fantastic Schatt & Morgan knives in existance that have been made over the brand's long & storied history.

Wanted to share this Senator pen knife with you all. The abalone on this one is so unique on both the front and especially on the back. The back side changes color when you move the knife and view it from a different angle. From straight on it looks pink and lavender and from the side you see more green hues. This knife has pure abalone handles and not abalone covered with acrylic. They really went over the top on this one.

Thanks Q, Garry and David. I agree that abalone is one if the best handle materials to collect. Paua abalone is probably my favorite, but this natural abalone is so unique that no two pieces look the same. It’s a good idea to grab any that catch your eye, because it won’t come around again.

I got another Senator Pen knife in Abalone. I can’t tell which of the 4 I have offered for sale in the last few years is the prettiest. This one is amazing. Every angle you hold this shows different colors and pattern. This one has a lot of pinks, reds, turquoise, blue and green. I think these are becoming my all time favorite Schatt and Morgan knife.

Thanks Garry. If my memory is correct, you bought the first one of these I offered a couple of years ago. It was just as stunning as this one, with more color variations.
I think it would be pretty sweet to have a display case full of these. I’d sit and look at that for hours.

Right you are Mark. I acquired it back in 2019 and have it in my hand right now. I was going to take a photo but my camera has decided to act up. I will try again tomorrow. It remains as beautiful as ever.

I got it. Not at all comparable to your photos. I am wondering if it is still legal to harvest abalone. I am doubtful about California.

Although I'm not a big fan of DFC era S&Ms (post 2006), I simply could not resist this #01 Swayback Jack for two reasons:
1) I'm a certified Wharncliffe junkie ::woot::
2) I'll let the Ram Horn handle speak for itself...the color and texture are simply insane (enlarge the close ups for best detail viewing). ::drool::
