Store Display Case

The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company was started by John Champlin and his son Tint in 1882. It was first incorporated under the name J.B.F. Champlin and Son as a wholesale distribution company based in Little Valley, New York. The business proved to be a successful endeavor, and it soon branched into a knife production company named Cattaraugus.

Store Display Case

Post by Ridgegrass »

Might enjoy this: Bought this Cattaraugus hardware display case about 30 years ago in the town of Northeast in Maryland. I filled it with Catt's from my collection. It has original, porcelain price buttons at each mounting, ranging from 85 cents to $1.50. Amazing!! The back drops open to reveal pigeon holes to hold the numbered models. Came with a couple of 1/2 dozen size boxes and a logo-stamped honing stone in it's box. Catt's are my favorite and this box is really special. Wondering if anyone in the forum has one or has seen one like it. J.O'.

Thanks for showing that! I have seen an empty display (on eBay) like it, but never have seen one with knives in it. ::tu::

Mumbleypeg, Do you recall the price range for the display case?

Here's a nice Catt. Sheepsfoot and punch. Anybody ever heard of "FARMER'S GUIDE"? Must be a premium for a subscription. ????

Hello Ridgegrass,
I've never seen that display before but it is certainly nice. The knives are super too. Catts are among my favorites as well. Thanks for showing these remarkable pieces of history.

Wow, that display case is in great shape!

I have one that's missing the front gold panel and buttons.
Mine is only 24 inches wide, looks like yours might be a bit wider.

What a great way to show off your knives!
