Thanks for that Ryan, I was not familiar with them. Here’s a very early version, same song, bootleg video of SRV. Amazing.

Great bootleg Ken! Derrick Trucks from Tedschi Trucks is Butch Truck’s (Allman Brothers drummer) son—he learned from Dicky Betts and I could only imagine who else gave him pointers in that circle of influence.. Here’s one more from Samantha Fish https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GL9rBAjut2g

Eddy Shaver was tutored by Dickie Betts also. Eddy was touring with the Allman Brothers Band when he was just 14, playing their gigs and learning from Betts. BTW that’s the same age Delbert McClinton was when he recorded the harmonica solo on Bruce Channel’s hit “Hey Baby”. Some are just born with it!Stanwade wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 2:50 am Great bootleg Ken! Here’s a guy I used to sneak in and listen to when I was in high school. He was the featured artist in the house band at a blues-rock place called The Cellar https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/t ... -of-clubs/ . We were both a lot younger back then. He died a few years ago. Never figured out why he didn’t make it big.

Great stuff Wayne. A kid I grew up with went to Saint Marks School in Dallas - his parents sent him there when he entered 9th grade. Some of his Saint Marks friends had a band called The Marksmen. I went with him one summer afternoon to watch them practice, literally in one of the band member’s garage. We sat around and watched an hour or so, then left. I thought they were good but didn’t think much more about it. A few years later I learned the band lead singer/guitarist was a guy named Boz Skaggs. My brief brush with fame. That would have been in the early 1960’s.btrwtr wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 12:57 pm Two of my favorites. About as blue as you can get.

Re: Favorite Blues/Rock songs/guitarists
Thank you so much everyone for sharing! I love everything so far… Good music… It’s still out there, just hard to find these days from new artists If you don’t know where to look..shame of it is there’s so many artists out there 10,000 times better than the crap they put on the radio anymore…

Can’t explain it but somehow I never saw Johnny Winter, and was never a fan. Not proud of it, just how it is. I just never was around when he was.bladehound wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 10:57 pm Can't believe we are talking blues/rock and Mumbleypeg from Texas didn't mention Johnny Winter the king Delbert is a God in my eyes, have seen him 12 or more times .

Re: Favorite Blues/Rock songs/guitarists
Wayne a lot of people don't really associate Led Zeppelin with the blues but a majority of their early stuff came right out of the Mississippi delta. They just put their unique rock and roll style to it. All you've got to do is listen to to those guitar riffs and the blues come shining through. They're definitely one of my favorites.
