Has anyone tried one of the Glarry strats? They have been all over youtube for the last year as the latest "cheap guitar" darlings. I don't know if the guitars are any good, but they certainly know how to play the social media game. They have given away electric & acoustic guitars to anyone with a youtube channel. I've watched dozens and dozens of "reviews" of the Glarry guitars - and all of them were free guitars sent to the youtubers. It's a brilliant strategy - they can give away 100 guitars that sell for $70 (free shipping!) and that's still FAR cheaper than the cost of even the smallest ad in a major music gear magazine. I would like to see a review from someone that did NOT receive their guitar for free.

Of course, the real question is: are the $70 Glarry guitars any better (or worse) than the $120 Squire Bullet?

::hmm:: That's a great question TFL ::hmm:: . I have no idea, I might pick up 1 (or 2  ) to try em' out. I've looked Glarry up before, but like most other things, keep on getting side tracked because I've got so many different things going on right now  ::facepalm:: . I really do have to many things going on, health issues for ya!

Just to change it up a little bit. Here's a 2011 Gibson Les Paul 1960s Tribute model. Honey burst finish, P90 pickups. Born in Nashville on Feb. 11, 2011.

...and a DEAN, made in Korea in 2008. it's used. The exotica bubinga wood is fantastic, and I like the abalone inlays.
This guitar is IMPOSSIBLE to play sitting down. :)

Sweet lookin' Gibson, Blue.
And being a fan of the Blues, that Dean made me think of Albert King and his flying V. Two nice ones there!

All right, these should be final photos of "Purple Haze". I'm pretty much finished with my custom Strat!
Only three items actually came from Fender on this thing: The middle pickup, the neck plate, and the tuners.
Purple Haze!

Skunk Stripe

Can you See the Glitter?
Can you See the Glitter?
The rest is:
Might Mite neck,
Strat body of unknown origin
Seymour Duncan BYOP electronics and pick guard
Seymour Duncan Little '59 mini hum buckers at neck and bridge position (started out with three of these, but sounded muddy in the 2nd and 4th position on the toggle - even when I tried a Fender "super toggle switch".
Head Stock "All In"
Head Stock "All In"
My RAT Logo
My RAT Logo
All paint is enamel: first two primer coats, 4 coats of plum purple, 1 coat of metal flake, 4 clear coats, finally the pinstripes, followed by 3 coats of urethane gloss clear. The depth of the finish just doesn't show up in my photos. Looks like you could swim in it.
I wanted a logo on the headstock, but since it's not a "real" Fender I didn't want it to read "Fender". My wife said it looked like a Clemson guitar, so I made the water slide decals and put them on this week.
Lotta fun, glad I'm done. Now, time to PLAY!

Here here ::clapping:: ::tu:: . She came together really well, that neck you used is wonderfully grained. Hard rock maple?
Fun fun fun!

Fire Sale Stratocaster.

This is a lefty Mexican made Stratocaster I bought about 8 years ago. When I bought it several large pieces of the thick polyester finish were missing from the body and the guitar was sold cheap because of this damage. This guitar was practically new with the exception of the finish that was missing. Looked like someone threw it down the stairs or played El Kabong with it. Amazing how people will abuse both their knives and guitars. I removed all the original finish and torched the poplar wood to give the guitar a flame burned effect then put about 6 coats of clear polyurethane on the body.

Since I don't play left handed the guitar was sold on eBay after the rework.

Wayne, that looks great!
Did you do a spray urethane or brush?
I remember watching El KaBong when I was a kid. I remember thinking, "That dude goes through a lot of guitars..."

I used a spray and applied a bunch of light coats. Not near as involved as your Strat ranger. Thanks for the compliments it was a rescue of sorts.

Love music;have several guitars;can't play a lick. Here are a few that I have painted over the years. The double neck is a custom made piece for my friend Larry and the two others following it are his as well. The clear guitar is my son's latest one.The case I painted at a charity auction. The last one was another friend's.

My first Tele.
I had an amplifier that I just wasn't digging the sound of, so I decided to put it up for sale or trade for a Tele.
A guy contacted me and told me of one that he built with an Allparts body and neck. He sent pics and I set up an appointment to go try it out.
I started playing it, and it played like butter. So, I made the deal.
I've been very happy with it so far. I am really more of a Les Paul jr. player, but the Tele is a great change of pace. And the Mesa Mark V 25 sounds excellent with it.
Also added a pic of the LP jr. modified with a TV Jones Powertron Plus.
