Neck knife and sheath

Post by Rossr »

Finished off this neck knife sheath today. Knife I forged from an old hayrake tine. Sheath is deer skin lined green in color. Leather is wicket and craig skirting. Back side I did a small basket weave, front is some simple stamps and a few swivel knife cuts. Strap is some braided lace I had around. Double loop lacing around the sheath.

This is for a knife swap I'm part of on another forum. Fun thing we all agree to certain parameters and then each participant makes a knife. Then everyone goes in a hat and is paired up. I send my knife to someone else and in return I get a knife from another participant. Fun to get someone elses work and a neat way to share what we do.

Enjoy folks stay safe out there wash those hands and make more leather stuff if you are stuck at home.

That looks really good and/or different. Sheath is awesome. I would be proactive and make the strap able to pull away so someone cant strangle the lucky winner, in a fight, near the paper isle.

Very nice! I really like the fact you went with two different colors. That green really makes it look sweet! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

Well... I have tried working with leather... and I KNOW first hand, that it takes a real talent to work with leather and make it look as amazing as what you have done with that sheath!
Once again!.... second to NONE!

Yes it's a stamp. They come in different styles and sizes. Just takes a little practice but very doable to get a nice look!

Below is a link to a video about basketweave which can explain it far better than I can. I have no affiliation with weaver leather and if the link is not allowed my apologies and mods please remove!

Hope that helps
