Real or Not

Winchester entered the knife market as a manufacturer in 1919 by acquiring two existing knife companies; Eagle Knife Co. of Connecticut & Napanoch Knife Co. of New York. Winchester stepped away from the market in 1942 to focus on war related manufactured products, but re-entered in the late 1980s by licensing its name to Blue Grass Cutlery. Blue Grass had high quality knives made by Queen Cutlery that featured the Winchester brand name for a handful of years until the license arrangement ran its course. Winchester eventually started licensing to other companies & now you will find the brand name used by several knife manufacturers by way of license agreements.

Real or Not

Post by BWT »

This is the only photos I have. Not my knife yet. The owner says it is made by Case. I have no idea or if’s it even a legit Winchester? Any help would be appreciated ::handshake:: He wants quite a bit for it. Thanks for your help.

I'm no expert myself, but could it be a much newer one made by Queen?

I kinda thought that myself? He said it was made by Case but I didn’t think so.

Need to see the other side of the big blade to see if it has a pattern number. Looks like a good Winchester to me until I see the other side of the big blade.

Thanks 98src. I sent the owner a message about the 4 digit number, but he hasn’t responded.I just can’t remember if it does or doesn’t, and don’t want to give bad info about it. He said it is an original Winchester from the 1920s to 1930s and made by Case. It is a really good looking knife but it’s almost to good and his asking price is 325.00 and I never made a counter offer till I get more information. I bought a Winchester about 5 years ago that was a good looking knife and it turned out to be a fake!

I just got the number it’s 2850 98src, if that helps?

2850 is the pattern number for a Winchester Swell Center Jack. The knife pictured looks correct. It was made by Winchester, Not case. Mike

Very cool Winchester Jack. Personally, I wouldn't care that it was not made by Case because it's a great looking knife and, in my experience, good old Winchesters are harder to find. 😉 ::tu::
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Don’t know anything about Case-Winchester, but that is not what a 2850 Winchester looks like. Harold

Thanks Harold, the guy that sent me the photos already bought the knife so it is to late. It was offered to me but I was scared of it especially for the price. Thanks for your help.
