North woods Heritage jack (GEC 86)
Attractive looking knife.
Listed cover materials, per KSF email, left to right:
OD Green canvas, FMW burlap, red sawcut, giraffe, mammoth.
Anyone know what the FMW burlap is? Looks like a white resin with natural burlap fibers. Haven’t seen anything like it before.

That burlap Micarta is intriguing enough that I might try for one of those.
I sure hope the Giraffe bones are consistently like this one. It’s stressful trying to pick a good one and having it show up as not available when you check out.

That is what Jay Rouch called it. He had it special made for this run.

You did way better than I did. I didn’t even get a straggler. Got some crazy message at the check out that the check out was busy. Wasted sooo much time hitting the try again button. Got to checkout w/ 6 different knives but alas none are coming to me.
They did have some good stragglers they put up.

Nothing again. Something screwy with Paypal. I had 7 pending charges on my credit card, but no order confirmations. This morning I had 7 credits. Not much time to figure out what the issue is in the moment and not really anyway to figure out what I did wrong.

I had that same trouble. I kept getting a message that the check out was busy, which caused me to lose the first Giraffe bone knife I had picked. Went back over and over and had 6 different knives through the check out and at the end, there was no knife.RAMROD wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 12:33 pm Nothing again. Something screwy with Paypal. Bohn needs to fix this. TKC started letting the buyer keep in his cart any knife that he picks and it’s there at check out. If they can do it, so can KSF. It is very frustrating for them to do things this way.

Re: North woods Heritage jack (GEC 86)
Awesome. Thank you for confirming. Is Jay doing all the planning for the Northwooss runs then?
Re: North woods Heritage jack (GEC 86)
Derrick Bohn died a few months ago and Jay Rouch now runs the company. I agree there could be a better system for checkout, but probably would cost them some money to set up. Besides they will sellout in under 5 minutes as it is. They don't need to improve it in their minds I would guess.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 3:29 pmI had that same trouble. Re: North woods Heritage jack (GEC 86)
Jay was at the helm for Northwoods way before Derrick passed away. He is a great designer and knife maker in his own right.

The FMW is very unique. I’m wondering if they’ll do more knives with that cover or if it’ll be a one and done. Here’s my contribution to the HJ thread.
I’m a long time collector in search of rare and limited GEC AND Northwoods knives. Always looking to add ivory pieces to my collection. PM to discuss sales or trades, please!

I picked up a Pretty nice Heritage in Mammoth today. I really like this pattern. It's a big hefty knife.

Really like this one. I have an Oilfield jack from GEC but would like one like this one.gsmith7158 wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 5:24 pm I picked up a Pretty nice Heritage in Mammoth today. I really like this pattern. It's a big hefty knife.
I wonder when they will make another batch of those Northwoods
Re: North woods Heritage jack (GEC 86)
Wish GEC would have made some 86 single blades like the Northwoods Heritage Jack, it's a real nice knife for it's size, I'm glad I was able to get one. I doubt GEC will do another run anytime soon and the aftermarket prices are crazy high, I just saw a red sawcut go for $890 on eBay, I can't believe it, I think there's something fishy with that sale.
