Marbles Ideal & Pocket Axe Help

Webster Marble formed Gladstone Mfg. Co. in 1892. That company created the first folding Axe in 1893 which lead to the incorporation of Marble's Safety Axe Co. in 1898. The company became Marble Arms & Mfg. Co. in 1911 & enjoyed years of success until succumbing to a shut down of production in 1974. The brand was brought back to life in 1994 & enjoyed a grand rejuvenation that later gave way to another shutdown in 2009. Many great knives & tools were crafted over the company's storied history.

Marbles Ideal & Pocket Axe Help

Post by tunefink »

I recently picked these two up in a collection. I know they are fairly early, but I would appreciate any specifics you may offer. I don't have much experience with Marbles. Thanks in advance!

Real nice pair them 2 are !!! Pre 1910, do not have my stamp list
with me as I am in a process of moving, but that is a real early stamp
on the axe.

Your knife appears to be 1905 to 1910 from what I see in my Marbles book.____Dave

Thanks guys, I have ordered Robert Schmeling's orange book to add to my library. I did'd see anything helpful in Goins'. My main thing are Randall's but I can't pass up most any cool old knife.

If you're interested in collecting Marble's gear, I recommend picking up a copy of this book. Everything you might run into and great pictures for illustration. ::tu:: ::tu::
