Re: New Case steel

Thanks for this post, very interesting. I had seen the CS on Case tang stamps on the Shepherd Hills Cutlery site but did not know about the Case blog post explaining things back in February. Excellent reference info. Good old 1095, the more things change...

Re: 19 Little Rattler

Well, today is finally getting better!! Had a long and bad work & travel day, but while sitting outside with my granddaughter about 10 minutes ago I got the Knivesshipfree Little rattler email. Tried to order with my phone for 5 minutes and kept getting pocket slip errors, no matter which button...

Same here, "in" my cart but before checkout completed gone. I'll see if I can snag a burlap micarta Tidioute from another distributor.

You are correct, thank you for clarifying that. I saw four knives and didn't follow through to notice the bottom one was a 23. Short attention span gets me every time.

74 Free-For-All

So C. Risner is going to dump all four GEC 74s onto the internet at 8 PM Eastern tomorrow, setting up a lot of click-happy losers, and a few winners. I'll be there, though I don't have high hopes. Getting through checkout once they're "in" your cart is when I usually get waylayed and the k...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

It opens pretty smooth. If you're holding it right and flick right it always opens with no wrist movement needed. If you get a little sloppy it may not go to lock, but not because it doesn't have a nice bearing pivot. I really do appreciate the Kershaw SpeedSafe. I know it seems to be a rite of pass...

Modern, screw-together folding knives...

I received Volume III of the Case Collectors Club magazine a couple of days ago, and it began with a letter from Mark Paup, the President and CEO of Case and parent company, Zippo. In addition to talking about Covid-19 and 2020 problems, he mentioned that they had installed more state-of-the-art mac...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

841 Sprint Pro. This beauty arrived October 12, a hundred dollar knife, so not cheap. But, with an S30v blade and beautiful burlap micarta scales, it doesn't seem overpriced. I like it a lot so far. Not assisted opening, but has a smooth action for sure. The blade is I think called a hybrid between ...

Kershaw Dividends discontinued

I have had a Kershaw Dividend with the glass-filled nylon handle, model 1812, for a couple years, and really like the knife. For the cost it is an American made bargain, in my opinion, and just happens to fit my preferred flipper size and features. And I really like speedsafe. I was surprised to not...

GEC 33 Tidioute shield question

Does anyone know what the shield is on the Tidioute 33 conductor that came out recently? It looks somewhat like the "Banner" shield on the GEC list, except the banner shield is raised to points in the center, and the Conductor shield is concave in the center. It's like a hot dog / bowtie m...

Re: GREAT EASTERN PRIVATE LABEL, CLUB KNIVES & SFO's

I agree with onearmbladejunkie on this one for sure. Bill Howard knows what he's doing, and hopefully he sees lots of buyers like me who want to keep the GEC knife they're buying, not resell it, but are having a hard time finding them. My general plan is to buy a Tidioute version (or two if handle s...

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............

The mailman brought me a Bolus Clip Jack from Collector Knives today, made in Italy by Lionsteel. My first knife made in Italy, and first "modern" traditional knife. It is very high quality, micarta is nice to the eye and the feel. Just a classic swedged clip blade, perfectly centered, and...

Looks nice to me, but if it's a short run it may be tricky to get one! The early reserve on the 74 filled up on Collector Knives between the time my phone dinged me and when I logged in and looked at it, less than two minutes. Re: Help with info on a 735108

The only Great Eastern Cutlery stainless knife I have is a 99 Wall Street, and it says nothing on the knife about stainless, although the tube does say "440C STAINLESS STEEL CLASSIC POCKET KNIVES" on it. Most of the Tidioute and Northfield GECs I have say "carbon" or "cs&quo...

Re: GEC 33 trade Northfield for Tidioute?

Here is the Tidioute 33 I have now, very pleased to get it! I had a Tidioute "in" my cart at C. Risner but before I got through Paypal it went bye-bye. Was sitting by my phone when email for the Northfield came and got that just in time. The Northfield was a beauty too, but I wanted the Ti...

For those who are wondering, or viewing, Doc B and I exchanged our GEC 33s, now I have the Tidioute trim 33 Conductor and he has the Northfield. And both of us are happy! A nice feature of the AAPK forum communications.

Re: Help me identify this old Mini Copperlock

Thanks for the replies, confident it is 1998, which is what I thought, the tang stamp is crowded on a mini copperlock. Phil said he did not think it was worm groove, so that would mean the box is not correct? What jigging pattern do you think it is? I don't have much to compare it to, the only thing...

Re: Blemish on Tidioute #44?

While I only have about 20 GEC knives total, I do own that same knife. When I received it I though the bolster ends were a bit sharp, and the jigging was also something of a hand scraper if held tight, but I think that is intentional. I have carried it some, and dropped it once on pavement and dinge...

Re: Help me identify this old Mini Copperlock

Actually I have just looked at worm groove jigging on the Shepherd Hills Cutlery reference site, and it does look somewhat like this knife. At first I thought it was much coarser in the picture, but it does have a similar pattern. Possibly I was thrown off track by a comment on another forum that th...

Help me identify this old Mini Copperlock

So I bought this Mini Copperlock a while back on Ebay, mainly because it was advertised as a 1998, which was the first year of the Mini Copperlock, one year after the original full size Copperlock debuted. Not that I need much of a reason to buy another Mini Copperlock, my favorite Case Pattern... A...

I was not familiar with the 74 Mustang but I have viewed some older ones on the web and I definitely want one!

Thanks for the additional info.

Re: 2020 GEC#74 Mustang Run

I see nothing but 35 knives "in production" pics on the GEC website, and no mention of any 74 or anything after the 35 Beer and Sausage knives. Maybe I just can't find it, but I checked all the tabs I usually do. Are you sure the 74 run is "official"?
