Definitely not fake. That shield has been used on some modern knives.

Re: Remington DuPont Cutlery display case.
I'm making an educated guess that the display was made in 1934- 1936 time frame. I like it.

It probably had an inked on pattern number when it was new.

The way I read it, he no longer has the R4243. It does sound like he has a nice collection of modern Bullet knives.

Looks good. If the tang is worn, the backspring will usually sit low in the frame when the blade is in the closed position.

Does anyone recognize this knife display case ?
I found this at an antique store this morning. It had lots of receipts and pay check stubs from the late 1940's. It looks like it held 16 pocketknives in the top half of the display board and maybe a few sheath knives at the bottom. I'm just trying to figure out what brand of knives it originally he...

I like the slant bolsters. That's a unique feature that's not very common.

I have no proof either, but 1933 is close. I think that's when Dupont invested in Remington and they immediately began cost cutting measures.

I would guess that the knife is a custom and that his or her initials are F.E.W. Looks like a good one to me.

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
I can't get the pictures to show up. I think that if you click on link you can see the pictures. These knives are pretty rough, I had to dig back pretty deep to get to them. The R965 is not in this group, I'll keep digging.

Re: Unusual Liner Lock Button on R3083
Yes, the R2403 uses the same button, but in that situation it's used to open the spring loaded blade. I've never saw a R3083 with the round button before but I think it came out of the Remington factory like that, maybe a worker made a take home knife .

I buy pin stock from Kovel's knife making supplies. They have it in different diameters and compositions. I believe it comes in 12" lengths and must be cut to your needs.

Re: Remington/UMC kleanblade kitchen set Ka-8431
Very nice. Although the kitchen knives were produced in far less quantities than pocket or hunting knives, there just isn't as much interest or values compared to the other Remington knives. Even so, a full mint condition set like yours would still be a desirable find. Over the years I have bought a...

When you start posting individual pictures, it would be fine with me if you start with the dr's knife and the red, white and blue scout knife.

Appears to be a good quality carbon steel blade. I'd sharpen it to a razor edge and carry it with me everyday.

Re: Wanted... Skoal & Cope knives by Schrade.
At one point in time many years ago I had about 4 or 5 guys saving me all their can lids. I probably received 8 or 10 free knives in the mail and have purchased a few more since then. I need to get them all together and see which ones I'm missing. I'd never saw the list you posted, thank you for tha...
