Re: Camillus Cub Scout
I probably used confusing language; I did not mean to imply that the shrunk covers meant celluloid, although that is the most likely scenario. There were a couple other crappy formulas out there that shrunk that much. Delrin is not one of them. I have handled personally many dozens of Delrin-handled...

Re: Camillus Cub Scout
If the OP knife has celluloid handles instead of Delrin plastic handles it was made before 1962. I see shrinkage that suggests celluloid; Delrin handles would not show that level of shrinkage. Delrin use had almost completely (and probably completely) taken over by 1962 among all U.S. knife companie...

I did not know such things existed; very cool! Here is a mold for the aluminum bear head pommels on Schrade Walden bird and trout knives.

Just guessing, but it looks to me like something I would expect to see as a Jim Parker Japanese knife, which were good knives.

Hi..... Whether authentic or reproduction, it is called a Hitler Youth Knife. There is PLENTY of information on the internet. A tiny tidbit..... The Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend) was one of the earliest branches of the NSDAP, beginning in 1922, and comprised of boys ages ten to eighteen. Similar to ...

I don't know enough to pinpoint it but definitely pre-WWII and probably pre-1930. I like it.

Re: nickel silver or brass
Both metals have been used in knives since at least the late 1800s or before. During wartime or during times of reduced availability one metal might be selected over the other. Knives marketed as being upscale or fancier might be more likely to use nickel silver than brass. The short answer to your ...

Re: This is a Duck-pond - Show your pet Schrade Ducks off here.
To revive an old thread, here is a Schrade SC505 Scrimshaw Stockman that I bought at the Beulah Knife Show this past Spring. I have toted it quite a bit since then. Love it! Here is an SC505 of my dad's, he thinks he bought it mid 1960s. Is there a way to date it to a certain year because of the sc...

Re: Let's Try Again: Schrade LR7
Just a defective stamp. The other one we see in the thousands is a 84OT, which, of course, is really a 34OT. This is my opinion. I have watched the Schrades closely for 17 years and I have never heard of your stamp before. If it looks, smells and tastes like an LB7 I think that is what it is.
