Why is my tang stamp different

First off,,, I am not thinking it is something rare,,, just wanting to understand the difference I picked up a beater mini trapper at the flea market yesterday for a little of nothing. Went to confirm it's vintage and I noticed the tang stamp was different. I guess it's supposed to be a 2000 model, ...

Re: Good scale material?

Thanks for the replies all. I agree that the end cross section looks like oak top me as well,, but the spalted looking piece threw me for a loop. At this point it doesn't matter too much I guess, as I've decided it will be used for the project.

Hopefully will begin disassembly after work today.

Good scale material?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section,,, A coworker gave me a shoe box full of this wood. It was given to him a while back and he didn't know what kind of wood it is. It is pretty hard stuff, I can't dig a fingernail into it even the slightest. I think it might be parts of wood flooring that the man...

Re: Case Barlow Repair or Not??

I'm with your idea of dressing it up and making it a single blade. Exactly. And the guy that can make that happen is a member here (unless you want to do it yourself). ::nod:: ____________ Mike I think it's something I want to take on myself. BTW,,, having spent 13 yrs in Macon Ga,,, I really like ...

Re: Case Barlow Repair or Not??

Cody, the bottle opener screwdriver blade is an awesome idea! The main blade does indeed have very strong snap,, one of the reasons I bought it. The pic doesn't show it well, but a small amount of the tip was broken off and someone reshaped it,, sorta Thanks jwwood,, that is an idea worth remembering.

Case Barlow Repair or Not??

Hi folks. Been a while since I've been on the forum,, life has been consuming. One of my favorite knife styles is the two blade Barlow folder. This weekend I found this rough example in an odds-n-ends box at the fleamarket. At this point it does not appear to have any "dots" on the blade. ...
