Re: Old and Obscure Brands
Hi I was directed to this thread for info on this lovely old mother of pearl knife, likely to be a quill knife. It has G R & Co stamped as the only marking - can anyone advise maker and age? Many thanks!

The blade is quite loose when you take it out but when you fix it in place in line, it just places it very sturdily, great design. I can find no marks and wonder if it is handmade. Does anyone know anything about a knife like thi...

Re: Any ideas on age or origin?
Hi Ken that's an interesting idea. The vacant slot doesn't have anything in it as I thought it might be a propelling pencil thingy. Also the tube doesn't have a lot of depth so not sure it would be for a lead much as love that idea. It does have some minor movement to it though.

Any ideas on age or origin?
Hi everyone - I have this lovely knife and I think the exterior is bone. It has a little fixed tube at the bottom I think may be some kind of cigar piercer but looks like the filler point from a lighter and a nice blade stamped Smith. There is also a little slot in the front which I don't know had a...

Re: What kind of knife is this?
Hi thanks very much, I thought it was quite feminine in design and with a little loop too. The dating seems about right too - the steel is very nice quality and pretty heavy and strong - what do you think the spike item was for?
Many thanks
