Re: Attaching new handle scales
Thanks guys, I’m a perfectionist (freak). The intent was super clean looking scales. Been on my belt all day except when I took it out to use it. After using my new Japanese wet stone and leather strop,.....holy crap. Easily sharpest knife I have, and I’m known for sharp knives.

Re: A. E. Fuller TL29
Here are a few I been working on. Let’s see, materials are buffalo horn, cocobola,Hawaiian Koa. And an original to show what they look like (some worse) when I start on them. I’m just learning too, but it’s fun figuring it out. 75A48088-1C58-412B-AD99-86956969C7EB.jpeg 1A9E186A-32A9-463D-9E45-4BE3EF...

Re: Attaching new handle scales
This is the one I was having problems with, but the scales are pinned now. I am at work and don't have any pics of it now.

As everybody can see, Buck 110, I made buffalo horn scales. Beautiful, but didn't last in my pocket.Tom

Re: Attaching new handle scales
On handle pins, through thin liners, is the inside end of the pin flared somehow and the outside end peened, to form a mechanical lock that holds the scales tight? Or is it just contact between the round pin and the round hole in the liner that provides the grip? The hole on the inside of the liner...

Re: Hi from KY
Thanks everybody for the welcome. Wow, some folks are even familiar with my home. Amazing.
I'll get some pictures up of my fixed blades (this weekend). They are really pretty, but meant to be used.

Attaching new handle scales
I modified/customized a Buck 110 that I have. I removed the wooden scales, replaces the center pin and made new scales from buffalo horn. I attached the buffalo horn scales by roughing up the mating surfaces and gluing with slow cure epoxy that I have used for years with no problem. The center pin i...

Hi from KY

A motorcycle crash/ traumatic brain injury put an end to that. Although I have lost enough motor skills and concentra...
