Re: Information on my Joseph Rodgers & Sons Knife
According to Goins, this stamp was used between 1875 and 1900. If it is marked England under Sheffield it was probably made between 1893 and 1900, because after 1893, tariff laws required that goods imported into the US had to be marked with the country of origin.

Re: Does SPA treatment increase or decrease value of older knives?
It depends. I think if the knife is a true high value antique i.e. 100+ years old, restoration would hurt the value. Other than that it is a matter of personal preference. I also think it is important to let the buyer know if the knife has been cleaned.

Re: Case tested 6265 thin version
I saw it in the Pocket Knife Traders Guide volume 8 by Parker and Henley pg. 171. It lists a 6265 green bone Thin Variety - Rare $2100.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
I recently acquired a case tested (20-40) green bone 6265 pattern. I checked a price guide to get an idea of the value. It listed a "thin version" as rare. I don 't what that is.
Can anyone enlighten me?

My guess is KA-BAR was short of blades for this pattern and procured some from Griffin.

Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I had my first issue recently after having used paypal for many years to buy and sell knives. Lately I've been purchasing ww2 theater knives on EBAY, without any problems, then when I tried to pay for my latest knife the transaction stalled. I contacted Paypal and explained my problem. A very pleasa...

Re: Do you see a problem?
In his book Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery, the author says that one of the things to look for when evaluating a knife for authenticity is whether, " The blades are straight extensions of the back spring when fully opened". If they are not it should raise a red flag.

Re: I joined to ask this question
Great thought provoking question Nick. For me the benefits of knife collecting out weigh the costs. I have no regrets, but at times when immersed in knives with fellow collectors at a show or on the hunt at a flea market I think about what is really important in life and it's not knives.

Re: Fake Knives
Speaking from experience, I would, before jumping to any conclusions, consider the source of the "expert" opinions. If after consulting with people whose opinions I respect, I come to my own conclusion that the knife Is probably not what I thought it was, I first would try to replace the f...

Pin stock
I need to replace 2 pins on 11cm Hubertus tab release switch ( bottom steel? and center brass pins) and don't know what diameter pin stock would be best. I would appreciate any advice.
